BIOGRAPHY
Antonio Faccilongo is an internationally recognized documentary photographer, film director, and photography educator, best known for his long-term visual investigations into social and political issues.
After earning a degree in Communication Sciences and a Master’s in Photojournalism, he focused his work on Europe and the Middle East, particularly Israel and Palestine, as well as Ukraine, documenting social, political, and cultural realities.
Working extensively in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, he has explored the long-term consequences of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with a particular focus on its humanitarian impact. His work seeks to go beyond the dominant media narrative of violence and confrontation, revealing the intimate and often overlooked human stories within one of the world’s most widely covered conflicts.
His long-term projects on women and families in Palestine have received major international recognition, including World Press Photo Story of the Year, First Prize in the Long-Term Projects category at World Press Photo, the FotoEvidence Book Award in collaboration with World Press Photo, the Getty Editorial Grant, and the World Understanding Award at Pictures of the Year International.
Additional honors include recognition from PhMuseum, the Gomma Grant, LuganoPhotoDays, Umbria World Fest, Kuala Lumpur Photo Awards, PDN Photo Annual Awards, and Feature Shoot. He has also been a finalist for Visa d’Or and the Lucas Dolega Award, and shortlisted twice for the Alexia Foundation Grant.
His work has been exhibited internationally at numerous festivals and institutions, including the World Press Photo Festival (twice), Les Rencontres d’Arles, Zoom Festival, Festival della Fotografia Etica, Exposure Photography Festival, and the Buenos Aires Biennial. His projects have also been screened at Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan and featured in the global #WomenMatter campaign by Dysturb, addressing violence against women.
His photographs and assignments have been published in leading international media outlets, including National Geographic, TIME, Stern, Der Spiegel, and Le Monde.
